Nokia Romania opens the mobile phone factory in Jucu, Cluj

Nokia Romania, the local arm of the world's largest maker of mobile phones, opened its tenth factory of mobile equipments in the North-Western county of Cluj, and the company's officials estimate production in Jucu to reach 10 million cell phones next month.
The factory in Jucu unfolds over 34,000 square meters. The company produces 17 mobile phones per second globally and produced 450 million units last year.
Nokia invested some 60 million euros in Jucu and currently counts 1,600 employees, according to John Guerry, the manager of Nokia Romania. He added the company plans to count 3,500 employees at the end of 2009, when the production will reach maximum capacity.
The company's providers for the factory in Jucu, BYD Electronics, Hansaprint and Stora Enso, will start to construct factories on the local market at the beginning of next year the latest, following 20 million euros investment for each unit, said Guerry. He added the company will collaborate with its global partners until then and will import equipments from Hungary, China and Mexico.
